An endless war, as Julian Assange predicted in 2011.

By

As citizens of the world and people with access to verifiable information and history at our fingertips: it is very clear, the American military-industrial complex is alive and well and fully flaunted in our faces. It looks to be the USA & Israel vs the rest of the world: a seemingly endless war, as Assange predicted back in 2011.

Julian Assange discussing the topic of an endless war, in a video from 2011.

“The goal is to have an endless war, not a successful war. So, Stop The War coalition is important because we have to prevent it becoming normal for there to be a constant war. Very soon, within the next few years, it will become the new normal for there to be a constant war in the West. People will reach maturity and adulthood under the understanding that there is always a war. And at that point, war will not be something that is unusual or rising or horrifying or become the new normal.”.

IRAN, USA & ISRAEL

It’s been reported that on the 28th February 2026, Ali Khamenei the Iranian Supreme Leader, died due to Israeli & US airstrikes. According to The New York Times, the CIA gathered information regarding the location of Khamenei and other senior military officials that was then shared with Israel. Al Jazeera and CBS both reported this too, citing anonymous sources familiar with the operation. As we have seen across multiple news platforms, some in the country mourned and attended shrines to the decades-long leader, while other citizens celebrated and danced. I have Iranian friends who live in Liverpool and London, one friend I have spoken to did not agree with the supreme leader and sees the death as an end to a regime that was inflicting terror on its own people, but also thinks the USA and Israel are wrong for getting involved in the way they did. Who are the USA and Israel to murder a supreme leader, any kind of politician, head of state or leader in any country on earth, whether you agree with said leader or not? Are you in full confidence telling the public that all diplomatic and peaceful solutions had been tried and tested to the point where this was the only ‘de-escalation’ route?

Joint US-Israeli strikes have reported to continue to hit locations across Iran since the weekend. According to the Iranian Red Crescent, 787 people have died with several hospitals and schools in residential areas being damaged by missiles and drones. But it isn’t just Iranian leaders and senior military officials that have been murdered, civilians have lost their lives too. Pete Hesgseth, the US Secretary of War (yikes) took to his podium to declare “the US is finding and fixing the Iranian leaders” and that “Iranian leaders [are] looking up and seeing only US and Israeli air power every minute of every day, until we decide it’s over, and Iran will be able to do nothing about it”. He added that US jets over Iran are “controlling the skies, picking targets” and bringing “death and destruction from the sky, all day long”.

Is this loathing language reminding you of anybody?

Imagine unironically sounding like Homelander.

Such language flaunted has heightened tensions across the world and rightly so. We should be under no illusion that there will be some countries staying quiet and out of the way for now, but to them we say: today it’s Iran, who is it tomorrow? You therefore cannot be complicit in turning a blind-eye whilst you witness the alienation of international law and sovereign rights, and not expect those who are inflicting as such, to not inflict upon you. To think that way is naive and has no place in the stance of standing up to this.

Only a month ago, German media were likening US border patrol official Gregory Bovino’s outfit to that of a Nazi officer during I.C.E raids in Minneapolis, with commentators comparing the resemblance to fascist aesthetic. Below are the photographs used by the Guardian last month in their article, which you can read here.

GREENLAND

If you would have told me a few years ago, “President Trump has expressed interest in the US acquiring Greenland in 2026” I would not have believed you. Even now, it feels like a sick joke. Are we not at a point in society where we are just done with men, power, money and war? Why do you need or want to expand your territory at the expense of others? I am so bored of bullies in power. On the 17th January 2026, Trump announced he would apply an extra 10% tariff on Denmark, the UK and six other European countries (Finland, France, Germany, The Netherlands, Norway and Sweden) which would begin on 1st February, and increase to 25% on 1st June 2026. So, join us or we will cripple you financially, is not much of a choice, is it.

Jordan Bardella, protege of Marine Le Pen’s and the president of France’s RN, only weeks ago described Trump as “a wind of freedom”, now called the US president’s pledge to seize Greenland “a direct challenge to the sovereignty of a European country”. He stated, “When a US president threatens a European territory using trade pressure, it’s not dialogue, it is coercion. Yielding would set a dangerous precedent.”.

VENEZUELA

Today, it was announced that the US and Venezuela have brokered a massive deal to sell as many as 1,000 kilograms of gold to the US market. As well as having the largest oil reserves in the world, Venezuela is rich in gold, diamonds, critical and rare earth minerals – including some of those used in mobile phones. After the capturing of the Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores during a night raid by US forces, they were reportedly dragged from their bedroom in their house and taken to the US – with Venezuela’s First Lady showing up in a Manhattan court with a black eye and possible rib fracture, Trump warned the interim PM to “do the right thing” or face the consequences. Who else but thugs does this?

SPAIN

According to Snopes, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated in a press briefing on March 4, 2026, that Spain was cooperating with the U.S., with sources in the Spanish government “categorically” denying via email. Snopes asked the White House if Leavitt made a mistake and they will update the above tagged article if they receive a response, so be sure to circle back to that link for the US response to that question. It seems as though Trump and the USA are not in anybody’s good books right now. On the topic of operated bases to attack Iran, Trump stated in the Oval Office, “and now with Spain, actually said that we can’t use their bases, and that’s all right, we don’t need to. We could use their base if we want. We can just fly in and use it. Nobody’s going to tell us not to use it, but we don’t have to.”. The Benjamin Disraeli quote, later associated with Henry Kissinger feels relative, “America has no permanent friends or enemies, only interests.”. As somebody who has been researching and monitoring incidents regarding international law, international conflict and following the heightened political tensions, it is hard to see a way of navigating all of this to a point where trade, the coherence of human rights, and the things that our every day relies on to remain uninterrupted and without infringement, even if your country of residence is not ‘involved’ in conflict. Global conflict affects everybody.

SCOTLAND

The US ‘abduction’ in Scotland in the middle of the night is rather odd. It comes after the captain and first officer of a Russian-flagged, Venezuelan-linked oil tanker captured by US forces was reported to have left UK waters, just hours after the Court of Session in Edinburgh issued an interim interdict prohibiting the removal of the crew from the territorial jurisdiction of the court, the Scottish jurisdiction. I cannot believe my eyes and ears that in 2026, the US feels brazen enough to remove anything, let alone people, within Scottish and U.K. territory. Astonishingly, I haven’t heard anymore about this since it was reported at the end of January. Let what is done in the light of day be scrutinised by the public and the courts, opposed to behind closed doors and ‘no further updates’. What’s even more notable is that according to reports, the Scottish government had “not been furnished with full information” and they had to rely on updates from UK colleagues. Scotland’s Justice Secretary Angela Constance, said the episode had shown a lack of respect for “Scottish jurisdiction and Scots law”. I completely agree with that statement – both Scottish and the United Kingdom’s sovereignty was breached, but for Scotland to be even more in the dark compared to their UK counterparts is frustrating and unfair, showing an imbalance in regard to rights within the UK as leaders of their own country. Why should Scotland have to rely on the U.K. for information concerning an international incident that occurred in Scotland? From what I can see, zero repercussions. Zero word of any further consequences or progress concerning this case as of yet, the constitutional issues presented or despite a Scottish court order ignored.

If a foreign military who are already implicated in infringing human rights in Venezuela can remove individuals from Scotland while there’s an active court order, there are serious issues to be discussed concerning jurisdiction and defence. In the perfect words of Scottish Greens co-leader Ross Greer, “will the first minister show Trump that his piracy has consequences?”.

Under UK constitutional details, only British authorities may lawfully detain individuals on British territory. It is fundamentally a constitutional and jurisdiction issue. As a British citizen living in England – I don’t know about you, but having a PM that doesn’t have the chutzpah to defended itself and its waters is a huge no, for me. Yes, Starmer stated that he won’t join the war in Iran without legal basis, which is the bare minimum we expect from a leader – not going to war without actual basis to do so. He is not standing up to Trump in reciprocation of the heightening tariffs on the U.K. either that are due to hit 25% on June 1st 2026. Is it therefore just going to be accepted? Is Starmer not going to lead the way and call for a meeting amongst the other countries who have also received increased tariffs? Why can’t he be more like the Canadian PM in the sense of actively taking on the global issue of tariffs which are due to hit the roof. This country is already being ran on the cheap and the system is not working for those that it needs to work for. To face higher bills and inflation when people in Britain are already on the breadline is absolutely criminal, unjustified and unnecessary. For the integrity of international law and for his own standing, I pray he takes the steps to do so. It is all well and good that Starmer is taking the diplomatic route, as all countries should do, but at what point do you start to read the room? Is he seriously going to allow the President of the USA to dictate terms, the international economy, international heads of state, tariffs… international sovereignty? Please, actively do something about it! Form coalitions with international allies and arrange to export from them instead, limit the power of American tariffs therefore limiting Trump’s reach and influence. Ice them out. No pun intended. Reward those that are standing with you, not those with the boot on your neck. Look at the recent moves Canada has made to reduce their dependence upon their American neighbours trade-wise, since the threat of a 100% tariff on Canada by the USA. Canada recently secured new trade agreements with China, as both are energy superpowers, to collaborate in energy, technology and climate competitiveness to reduce emissions, scale up investment in solar, wind, battery and energy storage.

Of course, everything mentioned above is what has taken place since 2026 began. The USA is not known for appreciating or respecting sovereignty of nations as has been made very clear with their international actions at the expense of independent sovereignty of a nation. Let us not forget, the revealed CIA plans to kidnap whistleblower and Wikileaks founder Julian Assange from the Ecuadorean Embassy in London after being granted asylum by Ecuador. The International Federation of Journalists stated “According to the officials quoted, the CIA plans included a “potential gunfight with Kremlin operatives in the streets of London, crashing a car into Assange’s getaway vehicle or shooting the tyres of his plane to prevent it from taking off”, and “It was going to be like a prison break movie”, a former senior administration official said to investigators. The court also heard the witness state an increasingly sophisticated operation to monitor Assange was launched and was accelerated after Trump assumed office in 2017. The Guardian also covered the court hearing concerning one occasion in 2017, where the witness recalled saying that his American contacts had suggested that “more extreme measures” should be deployed against visitors to Assange. “There was a suggestion that the door of the embassy would be left open allowing people to enter from the outside and kidnap or poison Assange,” the court was told. The fact that branches of the US government were discussing the murder of an Australian citizen, who was at the time given asylum by Ecuador, in an Ecuadorean embassy on British soil presents many, many problems. The brazenness you must have in order to travel to a certain country to commit heinous crimes is nothing other than cowardly and state sanctioned thuggery. Choosing who lives and who dies with a thugs-for-hire outlook. We can go back further. The inquiry into the Iraq war released in 2016, detailing how the UK’s decision to join the 2003 US-led invasion of Iraq was made before peaceful options for disarmament were exhausted. Libya and the airstrikes under the banner of humanitarian intervention. Afghanistan and the inquiry into “black site” torture allegations against the CIA in Afghanistan as well as the 2010 documents released by Wikileaks, Collateral Murder… I think we all remember that and the horror of the videos and information of the slayings in New Baghdad. Even the terror that Trump is unleashing on their own cities, an example being Minnesota, and the overturning of Roe v Wade in order to limit the current freedoms and bodily autonomy of their own citizens. What is America doing except causing chaos and terror everywhere they go? Land of the free? No chance.

Trump: just because you AmeriCAN, doesn’t mean you AmeriSHOULD.
